Käserei Tufertschwil Challerhocker

The Käserei Tufertschwil Challerhocker was made in Switzerland using cow’s milk. The flavor for this golden cheese was simultaneously sweet and salty. The nuttiness was strong with it, but there also existed a earthy tone lurking in the background. I think ‘savory-sweet’ would be the best way to describe its flavor. Butterscotch, and that family of flavor, is also pretty sufficient in explaining the Challerhocker’s complex qualities. It has a beautiful balance of sweet and saltiness.

Because of its natural saltiness, it goes well with apples, pears, grapes, and jam. It is very versatile in pairing. It holds up well against other food but also stands strong alone.

So overall the Challerhocker was an exceptionally enjoyable cheese with a interesting flavor profile; it is definitely a cheese I would have again and maybe even call as one of my top cheeses.
